  • We found that leaving the shades closed and having your lights on timers during hours of darkness is best. This way a burglar is never sure if someone is home and is unable to case your home. Having a trusted neighbor pick up your mail and even park their vehicle in your driveway adds to the perception of someone being home.

  • Minor things like loitering or trespassing can turn into serious offenses quickly. Trust Your Instincts! You know your neighborhood better than most because you live there. If your instincts are telling you something isn’t right, it probably isn’t. Call police immediately, and articulate to them why the situation is suspicious. Our non-emergency number is 414-351-9900, but if you don’t have time to look it up or can’t remember it, 9-1-1 will work fine.

  • Before considering an alarm system, insure that your home is target hardened. Target hardened means you have checked your homes locks, lighting, landscape, and have a solid crime prevention strategy. If you are unsure, you can call 414-228-1741 and he will come out to your home and conduct a security survey for no cost to you. After your home has been target hardened and you still want an alarm system as another blanket of security there are many licensed alarm companies in the greater Milwaukee area. We recommend that alarm buyers get at least two bids for the work, ask for references, and make training provided to everyone who will use the alarm.

  • Glendale Police Officers do not solicit for any kind of charity. If you are contacted by someone representing themselves as a Police Officer or Sheriffs Deputy, be careful. Such callers are usually employed by a company to make solicitation calls, and are paid by the number of commitments they make. The callers will say or do just about anything to get someone to commit to a donation. You should be particularly suspicious of fund raisers who wish to send a courier to your home to pick up funds. Most legitimate charitable groups have permanent mailing addresses to receive your donations. If you are in doubt, call the Police Department. If you really wish to help, you may donate to the charity of your choice, and earmark the donation for just about any particular task you wish.
